Roof Replacement in Cypress
When patching stops making sense, we replace the whole roof the right way. Old layers off, decking checked, new underlayment and flashing, then the roofing you pick. You get a written estimate first, and if a claim is involved, we help you understand it.
When It Makes Sense to Replace the Roof
Replacing a roof means stripping it to the bare wood and building it back layer by layer. We recommend it when a repair would only last another season or two. When a repair will do the job, we say so and steer you to our roof repair work.
Our owner has 40 years of roofing experience and puts it to use on every roof we check. Brittle shingles, cracked tile, curled edges and soft spots each tell us how much life the roof has left. We take a photo of every problem so you can judge it yourself instead of relying on our say-so.
Sometimes a replacement begins with wind damage or a fallen branch. Then we photograph the roof before any of it is removed and walk you through how a claim normally goes. We can help with the paperwork for your insurer, but the insurance company decides whether the damage is covered. We won't promise you a payout.
What Your Roof Replacement Includes
Full tear-off
We strip the old roofing down to the deck. Laying new material over old layers hides problems and adds weight, so we don't do it.
Deck inspection and repair
Once the wood is exposed, we check for rot, delamination and loose boards. Bad sections get replaced, and you see photos before we cover them.
Underlayment and new metal
Every square foot of deck gets a new layer of underlayment before any roofing goes on. Around chimneys, walls and vents we put in new flashing, because old metal has usually shifted or rusted by now.
Your choice of roofing
We install asphalt shingle and tile roofs. As an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor, we can walk you through their shingle lines and colors on the call or at the inspection.
Vents, ridge and edges
Ridge caps, drip edge and attic vents are installed so the roof sheds water at the edges and lets heat out of the attic.
Protection and cleanup
Tarps cover your plants and siding while the old roof comes off. When the job wraps up, the old material leaves with us. A rolling magnet goes over the lawn, flower beds and driveway to pick up stray nails.

Signs Your Roof Needs Replacing
- Grit in the gutters
- The sand-like granules on top of a shingle protect it from the sun. When you find a lot of that grit collecting in the gutters or washing out of the downspouts, the asphalt underneath is getting exposed.
- Curling or brittle shingles
- Years of strong sun dry shingles out. When the edges curl or crack when bent, they can no longer seal down flat.
- Leaks in more than one spot
- One leak is often a repair. Leaks in several rooms usually point to underlayment that has failed across the roof.
- A sagging roofline
- A dip between rafters often means wet or rotted decking underneath. That needs attention soon.
- Patches on top of patches
- If you have paid for repairs several years in a row, the money may be better spent on a roof that starts fresh.
The Job From First Visit to Final Walk
- 1
No-cost inspection
We climb onto the roof, check the attic when there's access and take pictures. Afterward we sit with you and explain our findings in everyday language.
- 2
Estimate in writing
You receive a free written estimate that lists each part of the job, from tear-off through cleanup. When insurance is part of it, we show how our scope lines up with what an adjuster typically looks at.
- 3
Permit and scheduling
We handle the building permit so you don't have to. Next we choose a start date together, aiming for dry weeks away from the winter rains.
- 4
Old roof off, new roof built
Size and material decide the timeline, and most houses take a few days. Each evening the roof is covered so it stays dry.
- 5
City sign-off and walk-through
The city inspector approves the work. Then we walk the property with you, show you the new roof and leave everything clean.
What Sets the Cost of a New Roof
We price each roof by itself. Financing through Service Finance Company is available if paying over time would help, subject to credit approval, and we can talk it through by phone. First, though, we measure your roof, check what lies beneath and put the numbers on paper one line at a time.
- Size and pitch of the roof
- A larger roof needs more material and more labor. Steep roofs slow the crew, and harnesses and roof jacks go up before work begins.
- Which material you choose
- Tile and asphalt shingle differ in both material and installation cost. Tile weighs more and takes longer to lay.
- State of the wood deck
- How much wood needs replacing stays unknown until the old roof comes off. Your estimate explains how we price new boards, so nothing catches you off guard.
- Old layers and getting to the roof
- Removing two or three old layers takes more time. Narrow side yards, a pool or a small driveway can also slow down tear-off.
- Permit and roof features
- Permit fees, added vents, skylights and chimneys each add a line to the estimate. You see every one in writing.
Common Questions About a New Roof
- How many days does a new roof take?
- Two to five working days covers most single-family houses. Tile roofs and bigger roofs run longer. Rain can delay things, and we let you know when it does.
- Will I need to be home while you work?
- Not necessarily. A few minutes with us on day one and again at the final walk-through is helpful. Tear-off makes a lot of noise, so plan for that. Keep cars on the street to leave the driveway free, and pets tend to be calmer inside.
- Does insurance cover roof replacement?
- At times, if sudden damage such as wind caused it. Ordinary wear and age generally aren't covered. We take the photos, explain each step and work with your insurer on the claim, but the insurer makes the coverage decision.
- Will you lay the new roof over the old one?
- No. Removing everything lets us find and repair bad decking, and it keeps added weight off the framing.
Find Out If Your Roof Is Ready to Replace
